With just 10 games to go in the Premier League we enter the business end of the season, especially for those teams lingering at the foot of the table. Five teams are separated by five points as they all hope to avoid the drop.

Blackburn Rovers (16th with 25 points)

The Lancashire side boosted their chances of survival with a comfortable away win against Wolves at the weekend. A result which lifts Rovers three points clear of the drop zone, piling more pressure on Wolves and Terry Connor who find themselves cemented in the bottom three. Blackburn have a mixed bunch of fixtures coming up including Bolton and Swansea away and Manchester United and Liverpool at home, therefore they will be hoping to pick up points against the teams in and around them to maintain their stay in the Premier League.

Fixtures and my Predictions

Sunderland (H) – Draw
Bolton (A) – Draw
Man United (H) – Lose
West Brom (A) – Draw
Liverpool (H) – Lose
Swansea (A) – Draw
Norwich (H) – Win
Tottenham (A) – Lose
Wigan (H) – Win
Chelsea (A) – Lose

I Predict Blackburn will finish the season on 35 points which will be enough to avoid the drop. Rovers have a goal scoring machine in Yakubu who has already bagged 14 goals this season with 10 games left to play, and his goals could prove to be the difference between relegation and survival.

Bolton Wanderers (17th with 23 points)

Like Blackburn, Bolton also picked up a vital three points at the weekend, lifting them out of the bottom three. Bolton’s first win in six games has left Owen Coyle’s side a point above the relegation zone. Arguably Bolton have the easiest run of fixtures out of the bottom five and will be hoping to build on last weekend’s home win over QPR.

Fixtures and my Predictions

Aston Villa (A) – Lose
Blackburn (H) – Draw
Wolves (A) – Win
Fulham (H) – Lose
Newcastle (A) – Lose
Tottenham (H) – Lose
Swansea (H) – Draw
Sunderland (A) – Lose
West Brom (H) – Draw
Stoke (A) – Lose

I Predict Bolton will finish the season on 29 points which will see them survive the drop. I can only see them winning one of their last ten fixtures, which is their game away at Wolves. But I believe they will pick up vital points at home which will be enough to secure Premier League safety.

Queens Park Rangers (18th with 22 points)

Despite having Mark Hughes in charge the London side have found it hard to pickup results of late. Arguably they have the strongest squad of the teams battling for safety, as they spent big in January. But wins have been hard to come by this season as Rangers have won just five games in the league, a stat which indicates relegation form.

Fixtures and my Predictions

Liverpool (H) – Draw
Sunderland (A) – Draw
Arsenal (H) – Lose
Man United (A) – Lose
Swansea City (H) – Win
West Brom (A) – Draw
Tottenham (H) – Lose
Chelsea (A) – Lose
Stoke (H) – Lose
Man City (A) – Lose

I predict QPR will finish the season on 28 points winning just one of their final 10 fixtures. The London side will face all of the top five in the final 10 fixtures and will struggle to accumulate enough points to ensure they stay in the Premier League.

Wolverhampton Wanderers (19th with 22 points)

The appointment of Terry Connor has angered the home support, and so it should. With just a point in his first three games the Midlands side luck certain to face the drop. Connor suffered defeat at the weekend as he took charge of his first game in front of the home fans, a result which has cemented his side in to the relegation zone.

Fixtures and my Predictions

Man United (H) – Lose
Norwich (A) – Lose
Bolton (H) – Lose
Stoke (A) – Draw
Arsenal (H) – Lose
Sunderland (A) – Lose
Man City (A) – Lose
Swansea (A) – Lose
Everton (H) – Win
Wigan (A) – Draw

I predict Wolves will finish on 27 points which will not be enough avoid the drop. Terry Connor looks out of his depths and has been given a huge task to keep the Midlands side in the Premier League. I cannot see them winning more than once in their final ten games, therefore relegation seems certain.

Wigan Athletic (20th with 21 points)

Wigan Athletic have avoided relegation for several years, but this season it seems their luck is about to run out. The Lancashire side are rock bottom with just one win in their previous 10 league games and it will take a miracle for them to avoid relegation this season.

Fixtures and my Predictions

West Brom (H) – Draw
Liverpool (A) – Lose
Stoke (H) – Draw
Chelsea (A) – Lose
Man United (H) – Lose
Arsenal (A) – Lose
Fulham (A) – Lose
Newcastle (H) – Draw
Blackburn (A) – Lose
Wolves (H) – Draw

I predict Wigan will finish on 25 points drawing four of their final ten games and not recording another win all season. Athletic look set for relegation, they have defended poorly all season and have found it difficult scoring, therefore they look set to be a Championship outfit next season.
